Daily Focus – Day 184: Name Files for Retrieval
Part of Daily Focus: 365 Practical Notes for Solo and Small Business Owners.
A file name should help your future self find it without opening several candidates.
Useful names describe what the file belongs to and how it differs from nearby versions. Avoid labels such as ‘new’ or ‘final final’; a date, status or version number gives the future search a fact rather than a guess.
Try this today: Rename one active file with project, purpose and version information.
Keep in mind: Organization is successful when retrieval becomes ordinary.
