Daily Focus – Day 218: Make the URL Understandable
Part of Daily Focus: 365 Practical Notes for Solo and Small Business Owners.
Long or accidental slugs make pages harder to recognize and share.
Choose words that describe the lasting subject rather than a date, slogan or temporary campaign. If an existing indexed URL changes, preserve its value with a proper redirect; readability is not a reason to create a broken trail.
Try this today: Choose a short descriptive URL for the next page before publishing it.
Keep in mind: Good URLs age better than clever campaign labels.
