Daily Focus – Day 118: Create a Human Error Message
Part of Daily Focus: 365 Practical Notes for Solo and Small Business Owners.
Technical failures feel worse when the message blames or confuses the user.
An error message should say what is known, avoid accusing the user and offer the safest next action. Even when the problem cannot be fixed immediately, clear guidance reduces uncertainty and shows that the failure has been considered from the customer’s side.

Keep in mind: A useful error message is a small form of customer care.
